
Robert Lees
Robert joined Strata at the start of 2009 and focuses primarily on the software and IT & outsourcing services industries.
From 1995 to 1996 Robert worked as a consultant on economic reform issues in Central & Eastern Europe, based in Bonn, Germany. He began his investment banking career at Barclays de Zoete Wedd ("BZW") and Robert Fleming & Co., where he worked in teams focused on European cross-border M&A from 1996 to 1999. Robert joined Dresdner Kleinwort Benson’s technology team in early 2000 and eventually became responsible for coverage of the software and IT & outsourcing services industries for Dresdner Kleinwort globally, working from London (2000-2005) and San Francisco (2005-2007). He returned to London in mid-2007 to join Credit Suisse, where he covered the European software and IT services industries until the end of 2008.
In his investment banking career, Robert has acted on a variety of buyside and sellside M&A transactions, including LBOs and privatisations, as well as a number of IPOs and other equity capital markets transactions. Selected technology transactions he has worked on include the E4.3bn LBO of Amadeus Global Travel Distribution S.A.; a number of acquisitions for Misys plc, including the acquisition of Sunquest Information Systems Inc.; Hellman & Friedman`s UK public-to-private buyout of SSP Holdings plc; Vista Equity`s sale of SER Solutions Inc. to Gores Group; Electronic Data Services Corp.`s sale of its Inter-Operator Services (Europe) business to Billing Services Group Limited; Staffware plc`s sale to TIBCO Software Inc.; Morse plc`s acquisition of Diagonal plc; and PayPoint plc`s IPO on the LSE.
Robert has an MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (“PPE”) from Oxford University.
