Strata acted as exclusive financial adviser to the shareholders of debitoor, the Copenhagen-based cloud invoicing and accounting software provider for European microbusinesses, on the sale of the company to SumUp, the Berlin and London-based provider of mobile card payment processing solutions.
debitoor started in 2011 as a unit of e-conomic International. Following the sale of e-conomic to Visma in May 2015, debitoor became an independent company and shortly thereafter shifted its revenue model from freemium to a paid subscription service. By the summer of 2017, debitoor had build up an impressive customer base of over 20,000 microbusinesses, principally in Germany, Spain, the UK, France and Italy.
debitoor was majority owned by HgCapital, a leading mid-market private equity firm investing primarily in Northern Europe.
