The purpose of the project was to provide an independent view of Sage’s competitive environment as an input into Sage’s strategic planning process
- Strata’s review included an analysis of the established software vendors in the German market and also new entrants, including SaaS-based startups. This was summarised in an in depth report delivered three months from the start of the project
Project Highlights
- Strata undertook an assessment of all significant accounting, payroll and ERP software vendors active in Germany, which totalled over 700 companies. This involved reviewing all accounting and payroll software products accredited by the German tax administration, as well as researching products and companies listed by a wide range of German trade magazines and industry associations
- Of the 700 companies considered, Strata profiled over 50 significant market participants that might have had some relevance to Sage. These profiles included an initial assessment of their customer bases, distribution channels, technology, shareholders and management and financial performance
